Karyn White, Executive Vice President at PayPlans & Benefits Inc. (a payroll, benefit and HR firm) will present what is and ISN’T Sexual Harassment.. From “I’m just kidding, I wasn’t harassing anyone!” to “You’re better off not saying a word to anyone”, Karyn will take a look at real life scenarios, and help you understand where that line really lies. She will present real life scenarios to help you determine how you can help your employees understand and recognize the differences. Karyn works with her clients to find the right solutions with them. Previously, she was an “HR Department of 1”; covering the employment cycle for a local manufacturing company, and earlier had spent several years as the Northeast HR Manager dealing with union and non-union environments. Karyn is PHR/SHRM-CP certified, a DDI certified facilitator, a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Northeast Human Resources Association, The Associated Industries of Massachusetts HR Roundtables and Chair of the New England Business Association HR Committee.
Connie Roy-Czyzowski, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CCP, Vice President of Human Resources at Northeast Delta Dental, will talk about “Your workplace in General – is it one where employees feel comfortable about reaching out to HR or other leaders when they have issues? What’s HR’s role? To be an employee advocate? To protect the company? Is it possible to do both?” Connie’s HR career spans over three decades.; She has been actively involved with SHRM and local Chapters including MAHRA and was awarded the ‘HR Hero’ Award by her peers in 2003. Connie was one of six “Outstanding Women in Business” awarded by the NH Business Review in 2013, received a NH Business & Industry Association “Above and Beyond Award” in 2017, and honored by the NH YWCA as a “Susan B. Anthony Award” recipient. Northeast Delta Dental has won a number of state and national awards over the years including Best Company to work for in NH, One of 50 Best Companies to work for in America, Psychological Healthy Workplace, and the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility, now referred to as “When Work Works.”
Elizabeth (Liz) Bailey, a Shareholder with Sheehan Phinney will share Lessons from the #MeToo movement from a legal compliance perspective: Employers’ obligations to prevent workplace sexual harassment. Liz has practiced in the areas of employment law counseling and litigation since 1992. Her client base ranges from private corporations to municipalities and counties. Liz works closely with HR professionals, management team and in-house counsel to develop effective risk management strategies and cost-effective ways to avoid employment-related problems. Liz’s practice includes a focus on time-sensitive and detailed internal investigations involving questions of employee misconduct and legal compliance issues. Liz also has wide-ranging litigation experience. Liz defends employers in claims before the New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New Hampshire Department of Labor, and the New Hampshire Public Employee Labor Relations Board. Liz’s court room experience includes jury trials in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts state and federal courts, bench trials, arbitrations, mediations and appellate arguments.
